Manage Your
Enterprise Content
4 April 2006
Enterprise content management (ECM)
solutions help organizations efficiently manage their fastest
growing asset – the unstructured data, or content. In
Malaysia, the benefits of enterprise content management are
well known among enterprises, however the challenges involved
in implementation of ECM solutions are often too many, making
many shelve their ECM implementation exercises.
The challenges involve the domain
knowledge to structure the unstructured content to best suit

ECM solutions, such as the necessary infrastructure to support
it, content security and access; and integration with the
existing third party applications such as SAP ERP, Single Sign
On and Microsoft applications need to be addressed, preferably
by the same vendor. In Malaysia there is also a distinct
challenge of digitizing a mountain of paper documents before
they can be managed by an ECM solution. Paper documents need
paper storage and manual duplication (photocopiers), which
makes it costly and inefficient, tremendously slowing down the
customer response time, and lacking in information security.

EDS (M) Sdn Bhd launches an awareness campaign on the
importance of end-to-end (e2e) storage management solutions
to corporations, system integrators and end-users. It is
said that without the key to demystify the complexity of e2e
storage management solution, which consists of total
storage, enterprise content management and enterprise
security, an organization is at risk of losing efficiency
and productivity let alone profit.
E-Cenit Systems, a solution partner of EDS is working to
provide cutting edge research and development for e2e
solutions. The E-Cenit StorageController which was launched
last year, has proven to meet the challenges of storage
lifecycle management and laborious storage management tasks.
